Why Chelsea?

How does someone end up supporting a premier league club? If you are in the UK, the choice of whom to support may not be that difficult. You could live in Manchester and support Man City or live in Merseyside and support Everton or your family could be supporting a certain club which you grow up watching and supporting. Mostly, you could start supporting a club even before you can start appreciating football.

For the premier league fans outside UK, there should be a trigger to start supporting a club. What could be that trigger? It could be the club's continued success, your favorite player in a club, a bunch of players from your nationality in the club, the playing style of the team etc. For the people outside of the UK, especially in Asia, sometimes people do need a reason to support a club. This might sound strange for the fans in the UK. I should first talk a little bit about football in India and then explain you "why Chelsea".

In India, football was almost obscure but for some presence in certain pockets. The nation is so cricket-crazy that the fans and media had no time or money for any other sport. It is only after the satellite channels started televising the premier league and la liga matches, the game really caught on in India. When football started featuring in the Indian television channels, it was Man Utd who were ‘the’ team. It was their era of dominance. It’s natural to find a lot of Man Utd fans in India who are in their 30s and 40s. In India, you find a lot of people who follow certain sports when there is an event. When the world cup was there, lot of them would appear to be fan. Once the event is over, they might have no idea of what’s happening in the football world.

I started watching football only when we got satellite television coverage. So then, I started watching the weekend football matches on TV. Normally, they would show all matches of Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal. They show the matches of the other teams only if the slots did not clash with that of the top three. Being an internet freak, I started following the game through the web world. Following as in, reading the news and rumours, not those streaming match videos. I generally have this tendency to support teams/players that are not the best or not the widely supported ones. Like the rest of the world, I did take notice of this young, fiery Jose Mourinho. I truly admired him, still admire him. It was because of Jose Mourinho, I started following Chelsea. And then I started supporting Chelsea. I do not know from which moment on, though. I seriously do not know.

You know you've become a fan of a team, when you feel upset like hell after a defeat. You know you’ve become a fan of a team, when you get into never-before superstitions for a team to hold on to that lead. You know you've become a fan of a team when you defend a team to death, though having different opinions in your mind, which you never bring on to the argument. All these things started happening to me with Chelsea. Without even knowing from when, I had become a thorough Chelsea fan. Very soon, everything about me turned Chelsea. The wallpapers, the passwords, the pillows, the car hangings – everything turned Chelsea. Sometimes, it got a bit too much that it even pissed off folks around me.

I did talk about the need to have a reason to follow a club. The crucial point is, if you're a real fan, the reason need not continue to exist.  Similarly, my reason – Jose Mourinho, left Chelsea. That's not changed me a bit. Even though Mourinho left, my feelings for Chelsea did not change. I think it's a bit difficult to express what makes you a fan and why. It’s a form of a love – it's about how we feel inside – the joy and the pain – that defines our love for our team/club.

Why did I start this blog? I love football, I love Chelsea, I love internet and I love writing. Add up all this, you get a Chelsea blog. There were/are not too many Chelsea blogs around. I don’t think I'm better at football or writing than those guys over at Chelseablog. But what I think that I bring though this blog, is just my personal views and opinions on the game and on Chelsea. I'm no expert but I'm just one of you. It’s just that I happen to own a blog and write in it. For me, this blog has been great and I hope you like it too!

Improbable but not Impossible

I completed my last blog longing for Roman's patience so I think I have to start this one by thanking him whole-heartedly.

Sit back on the couch, find your food hard to digest .Pray not to concede and watch out for injuries every ball.Hate the racing clock and fear for the teams at the bottom. There are some who are yet to lose one while how would I find all these days when the team that captured my heart is going through an undefined mess, to what the top soccer bloggers call with many reasons at the back. I begged nonsense November to go, pushed hard during boxing days and look for new signings every morning of January. Ray Wilkins sacked, Lampard with Achilles, Terry calfed up and malaria holding Drogba. The mercury dropped and matches postponed so was our points in the league table.Sleepless nights,Tensed dug-outs. And we cant deny that this is(was) our worst run for the past 15 years. Champions, Invincibles, Pensioners were our names a few months ago but now we  are called JUST Chelsea and soon that JUST would be replaced by any one of the titles.

Ipswich was a soup to our meal after the last of the long starve at the Molineux. The menu followed a sour Blackburn barbecue and a tasty Bolton chops. We have still got lot to come at the buffet around 15 servings of the Premier League Thalis. Champions League is sweet and the FA cup is one such but both are miles apart.(at last we came to know that). He holds up the team, confidence of the owners, belief STILL among the fans and promises to do the impossible but not improbable wearing CA in his crest.

We have some breathing space followed by some champions league suffocation next fortnight.  Don't need to look down the tables we are accountable  for the teams that now fear us at the top.

                   WIN OR LOSE.ALWAYS THE BLUESSSSS.

European glory to london

The blogger is a die hard Chelsea fan so don't think of Arsenal when it meant London. socceroos would definitely laugh when I say that  the trophy awaits us after a quick qualification to the knock out stages ,as the real test is yet to come. With comfortable wins in all games played in the group stages (as of  match-day 4). The perfect predicting odds and betting in Europe rate our club the favorites to grab away maiden European golden ware to what our rival manager Mr.Fergie calls "Bigger and precious than the world cup".
Although we cannot call ourselves unlucky and victims of conspiracy by elegant Nerazzurri last time around by rash tackles, unnoticed pushes and grappling inside the penalty box leaving us another long year to wait for. The next 2 dead rubbers in the group stage but it will determine our pot of draw for the next round. It is now  time for Ancelotti to test his young guns in the biggest stage .The Italian has been a huge success in bringing up the era of teenagers like Sturridge, Josh Mc-Eachran to the feet of Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard, thus making a very strong future for the renowned attacking style of play.
The complete pressure is now on Terry who still cries and regrets his costliest spot kick miss against the red devils in the final 3 years ago. his latest interview with Giles Smith gave confidence to millions of fans when he assured of giving his team's hundred per cent performance with heart and soul for the success to come .
On the field, we are often criticized of not performing against the big teams on their turfs. The real challenge against  struggling Liverpool would see all our critics writing a fair note. This would leave our complete focus on the Champions League .
hard physical training and adaptation of away turfs is the main attention of our manager.
At last, everything is fine with a bit of luck and would be much better if Roman Abramovic holds his patience.

Chelsea "a new style of play "

All is well for the boys in blue thanks to the highest paid manager in the world ,Carlo Ancelotti. He may hail from a country where football is all about defense but that doesn't mean he should be a home tutor. Chelsea's 4-3-3 is sound with Yuri Zhirkov's flexibility and Malouda getting a regular place on the score sheet. Chelsea have developed a unique style of football , oriented with attack unlike Barcelona where there is more room for counter attack. passing is a key to both clubs but Chelsea outplay the Catalan giants with a lot of physical force as compared to technical passing. Barca have lot of men getting forward to support the attack so as to Chelsea's front six with an extra full back. The technical movements and team-play styles adopted by the Italian gives much support on the field to the players who tend to have good understanding between them and also with the manager. Possessing the ball for a long time is not as good as creating a lot of chances along with them. The result of this strategy has given the bridge boys a goal difference of 23+  ,twice more than the second placed Arsenal. Anelka adopting a great movement control close to wings to support Drogba's irresistible attack. The return of Jose Bosinwa's return has given an extra boost to both defense and attack meanwhile the club will look much stronger when Lampard is fit. with wins in all three games in the Champions  League and a 5 point lead in the premier league makes the Pensioners the undoubted favorites to win the Treble.
